Claudio Ranieri has revealed the reason Leicester City decided to sign Algerian international forward Islam Slimani from Sporting CP this season. The 28-year-old scored a brace for the Foxes on his Premier League debut as Ranieri’s men cruised to a 3-0 victory over newcomers Burnley on Saturday.

He now seems to be the man who will steer the defending champions back to their winning ways following a faulty start which included a defeat to newcomers Hull City in the opening weekend, a draw against Arsenal, a win over Swansea, another defeat to Liverpool, and a history-making triumph over Club Brugge on their Champions League debut.
Slimani kept on tormenting Burnley’s defence throughout the Saturday match and the efforts paid off in the 45th and 48th minute respectively. Speaking after the match, Italian manager Claudio Ranieri revealed that Slimani’s ability to pile pressure on the opponent’s defence was the main reason the Foxes decided to go for his signature on the summer transfer deadline day.
