More about GolTV
Launched in February 2003, GolTV has held English and Spanish broadcast rights of many soccer leagues and tournaments over the years. While it has built an extensive portfolio over time, it has also had to endure significant turnarounds caused by massive changes in the U.S. TV market – notably regarding the entry of other large sports broadcasters.
In 2004, GolTV obtained the rights to the Spanish La Liga and later went on to sublicense some matches to ESPN Deportes and streaming service ESPN3. Yet, the interest they garnered as La Liga broadcasters in USA ended a few years after, following the launch of bilingual beIN Sports networks in America, in 2012. This led to DirecTV dropping GolTV from its Sports Pack that year.
Although GolTV has consistently had to deal with growing competition since it was founded, its history of soccer coverage remains comprehensive enough to comprise diverse competitions such as the Brasileiro Série A, German Bundesliga, Coppa Italia, Mexican Ascenso MX, Dutch Eredivisie, Portuguese Primeira Liga and domestic cups, as well as the Scottish FA Cup. It has also held the rights to soccer club friendlies and youth tournaments.
Because the network operates 24/7, its live soccer games tend to be regularly offered also as repeat telecasts. In the event of scheduling conflicts, matches intended to be live may be premiered instead. In addition to soccer games, GolTV’s content line-up includes soccer shows and paid programming.
GolTV is available via satellite and cable through the following TV providers in USA:
Subscribers may also access GolTV en Español online on AT&T TV Now’s Optimo Más package. Streaming GolTV channels online and on Android and iOS mobile devices is possible as well via partner OTT platform fuboTV, in USA.
