West Ham's footballer scored with only one minute left in regulation to give France their first three points of the tournament.

When France seemed to be heading to a disappointing draw, Dimitri Payet saved the day for Didier Deschamps' crew.

Payet scored a left-footed shot into the top right-hand corner of Romania's net to start celebrations for Les Bleus' supporterts, who were silenced by Stancu's equalizer 20 minutes earlier.

West Ham's footballer scored his first goal for Les Bleus one year and four days ago, when no one counted on him to play in this tournament. Today, he earned Man of the Match honours after providing an assist for the go ahead goal and putting an end to France's problems with his late stunner.

Moments after scoring the game-winner, Payet was subbed off with tears in his eyes.

Fans and experts reacted to his performance with high praise. Here are some of their best comments.
