Manchester United have reportedly reached agreements to sign Uruguayan pair Edinson Cavani and Facundo Pellistri ahead of the closure of the transfer window. The Red Devils have seemingly kept it late to do business for the former - who is currently a free agent - and the Penarol wonderkid.
Unlike their rivals in the league, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side has done the bare minimum as far as strengthening the team goes. This summer, the Old Trafford outfit has only managed to bring in Donny van de Beek from Ajax despite the club having a shortlist to recruit players for a host of positions.
United fans have been left frustrated for the most part of this transfer window with a deal for Jadon Sancho - the club's No.1 transfer target - hitting a dead end. While a move to Old Trafford looks highly unlikely, the club has moved on to secure reinforcement elsewhere for their attacking line.
According to the Guardian, the Red Devils have successfully brokered a deal to bring in Edinson Cavani as a free agent. The 33-year-old Uruguayan striker, who scored 200 goals in 301 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain, reportedly agreed personal terms on Saturday and is expected to sign a one-year contract, with the option to extend for a further 12 months. The player is expected to be on a huge wage bill while his agents have also asked for $11.7m as part of the deal.

Relatively, Cavani's compatriot, Facundo Pellistri, is expected to move to Manchester United in the coming days. According to Sport 890's Sebas Giovanelli, the highly-sought-after teenage star has agreed to join Solskjaer's side on a five-year contract.

The deal for his transfer is expected to be concluded ahead of the close of the transfer window on Monday with United and Penarol yet to agree on a fee. The player, who is expected to be the alternative to Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho, will reportedly cost about $13m.
