Report: Mbappe set to reject PSG contract to join Real Madrid next season

Kylian Mbappe is set to light up the stage later on Tuesday in PSG's highly-anticipated UEFA Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, but the Frenchman has found himself in the headlines for reasons outside the football pitch.

The 2018 World Cup winner has been the subject of much transfer speculation, and for obvious reasons.  Given that he is one of the best and hottest players in world football, the 22-year-old was bound to rack up interest.

However, one European giant appear to be ready to go all out for the Frenchman and that is Real Madrid. Florentino Perez's love for the former Monaco talent is no secret, and after failed attempts to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, Los Blancos are now ready to go all out for Kylian to return to the pinnacle of European football.

One of the biggest factors working in Real Madrid's favor is the Ligue 1 superstar's contract situation. Mbappe will be entering the final year of his contract, and according to Josep Pedrerol, the French ace will reject contract negotiations to force a Bernabeu switch.

Speaking on El Chiringuito on Monday, as per Marca, Pedrerol argued that Les Parisiens will set a reasonable price tag given the duration of Kylian's current deal.

I repeat: Mbappe will play for Real Madrid next season," Pedrerol said.

"He is not going to accept a renewal from PSG and is confident that the club will be prepared to set a logical price considering he has a year left on his contract. And he is very keen [to join Real Madrid]."

The 22-year-old, for the most part, has remained tight-lipped about his future and respectful toward his current employers, focusing on completing the season before weighing his options. Pochettino's side are trailing Lille in the Ligue 1 race but are only three points behind the league leaders.

In the UEFA Champions League, PSG boast a 3-2 lead in their quarterfinal showdown and are thus the favorites to make the semifinals. Should the French giants get past the Germans, they would be one of the favorites to lift the title. Should the speedy attacked bring European silverware to the Parc des Princes, he might deem his quest in Paris complete and leave for pastures new.
