Preview: Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Bayern Munich showed that a lack of football certainly has not hampered their stride as they picked up a relatively comfortable 2-0 win over Union Berlin, and now their focus will be on earning all three points against struggling Eintracht Frankfurt ahead their Klassiker showdown with Dortmund in a few days' time.
Eintracht sit in 13th place, five points from the play-off spots, and have lost their last four matches. To make matters worse, they have the worst away record of any of the 18 teams competing in the league, having picked up just seven points and have struggled in their visits to the Allianz Arena, where they have lost in their last ten visits.
Die Adler have pulled off surprise results against the Bavarian titans in the not too distant past, however. Back in 2018, they beat Bayern in the final of the DFB-Pokal to earn a spot in the Europa League, and more recently, they humiliated die Roten in a 5-1 rout in the first half of this season. That ultimately led to Niko Kovac's resignation, but it goes without showing that Bayern will be gunning for revenge this time around.
To date, Eintracht are just one of four teams to have beaten Bayern this term, but all of those losses happened before 2020. In fact, Bayern are the only team not to lose since the start of 2020, and they certainly will not be looking to allow that record to fall on Saturday.
Team news: Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Bayern Munich: Both Philippe Coutinho and Corentin Tolisso have suffered ankle injuries that keep them on the sidelines for this game. In addition, Niklas Süle still has not fully recovered from his ACL injury and so will not feature. Additional absentees could potentially include Thiago and Javi Martinez, but the former could play if he passes a late fitness test.
Eintracht Frankfurt: Dominik Kohr is banned for this fixture, while Goncalo Paciencia is a major doubt as a result of a thigh injury.
