Chelsea 2-1 VfL Wolfsburg
German powerhouse Wolfsburg fell to Chelsea 2-1 despite outshooting the Blues 22 shots to six. Emma Hayes’ Chelsea only had three shots on goal and converted two in the second half via forwards Sam Kerr and ex She-Wolf Pernille Harder to secure the win. Hayes hailed goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger as the best goalkeeper in the world after a heroic performance that proved to be key in Chelsea’s first-leg victory.

As for the German side, Wolfsburg was the better team on the pitch on Wednesday. The uprights, Berger and Blues defenders stopped the She-Wolves from scoring what could have been at least five goals before Kerr’s opening goal. Head coach Stephan Lerch’s players performed up to the highest standard and will look to replicate their high-attacking efforts next week.
Wolfsburg and Chelsea will meet again at Ferenc Szusza Stadium in Budapest on Wednesday, March 31, at 8 a.m. ET to play their second leg.
Paris Saint-Germain 0-1 Olympique Lyonnais
Lyon asserted their dominance over PSG in UWCL play in Le Classique Feminine on Wednesday with a 1-0 away win at Parc des Princes. The game was as tight as anyone expected, but a controversial penalty call ended up separating the two French rivals. Lyon’s designated penalty taker Wendie Renard converted from the penalty spot in the 86th minute to give her team the first leg away win.
