The Gunners are considering making a move for this 24-year-old center-back but could face competition from Simeone's side.

One of Arsenal biggest weaknesses has been their defense. A spineless back-four has plagued the Gunners for years, dating back to the latter half of Wenger’s reign but this is something Mikel Arteta is keen on addressing this summer.

Despite tightening things up at the back since succeeding Emery, the north London giants are on the lookout for a center-back and are reportedly ready to do battle with Atletico Madrid for one Bundesliga defender. That man is Jonathan Tah.

According to Sport Bild (via the Daily Mail), the Premier League giants are plotting triggering his release clause, which currently stands at a mere $44M. However, the Arsenal might have to move fast as that trigger clause will expire in July and Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are said to be interested in the German international.

Since taking over at the Emirates Stadium, the likes of David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi have impressed. However, Arteta is planning on shopping for new and improved center-back, with the Spaniard eyeing a summer addition to partner the incoming Saliba.

Fellow Bundesliga defender Dayot Upamecano has heavily been linked with the Gunners but the RB Leipzig sensation is garnering attention from everywhere, meaning Arsenal might face competition they can’t beat for his signature.

In the meanwhile, the north London giants are focused on their Europa League campaign, which is their best route back into the Champions League, and the Premier League. Aubameyang and Co. are in for a tricky game this Sunday, hosting Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton in a bid to climb back into the top-four race.
