The clash of the weekend in the Serie A will take place at the San Siro as league leaders AC Milan will host 6th placed AS Roma.
The Giallorossi are 10 points off the pace, but still confident of triumphing come Saturday. AS Roma have been experiencing mixed results lately. Their narrow 1-0 win at home to Bari was only their 2nd in their last 5 Serie A encounters.

Previously, they had lost in Palermo before salvaging only a draw away to Chievo Verona. Remarkably, the Giallorossi successfully defeated Internazionale and Lazio who are both above them in the Serie A standings. Now, they are not only hopeful but also confident of making AC Milan pay for their hungry desire of achieving better heights in the competition this season.

“We have always played well in big matches. We are more than capable of getting a good result [against AC Milan],” Coach Claudio Ranieri told La Gazzetta dello Sport whereas play maker De Rossi echoed the manager’s excitement ahead of the match:

“We are working for the game against Milan and we want to be ready for this.”

AS Roma’s confidence has been boosted by AC Milan’s injury worries. The Rossoneri will be without Gianluca Zambrotta and Gennaro Gattuso since both players suffered fitness blows in Milan’s 3-0 victory over Bologna last weekend. A statement on the club’s official website confirmed the issue on Monday:

“The official in charge of health at AC Milan, doctor Gianluca Melegati, announces that Gennaro Gattuso submitted to imaging scans today that showed a mild strain of the satorius muscle of the right tight. His recovery time is estimated to be 7-10 days.

“Gianluca Zambrotta, during the match yesterday, suffered a lateral stretch to the posterior capsule in his left knee. Tests have ruled out ligament and meniscus tears and the expected recovery is around 10-15 days.”

Will AC Milan suffer from the absence of these two veterans? The answer will be known later this week.
