Every Clásico we can think of has not been free of controversy, and these actions will add to that streak in spectacular fashion.
In less than two minutes, Real Madrid fans had reasons to complain about the referee's performance. First, Clement Lenglet kicked Raphael Varane's thigh (and even left the studs marked on his skin), but the ref looked away despite complaints from Los Blancos' footballers.
But two minutes later, as Real Madrid took a corner kick, Ivan Rakitic seemed to pull Varane's jersey, forcing him to the ground, in what seemed to be a clear penalty. The ref decided not to award the spot kick -again-, much to the bafflement of fans, experts and Real Madrid players.
So two clear penalties on Varane within two minutes and none checked by VAR.. One was a clear red on Lenglet, but it's the same thing every year. Blatant robbery. #ElClasico pic.twitter.com/eb3LJk4IdT
