Despite facing defending champions Man City, Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, and current league leaders Arsenal in his first four games, the English tactician was shown no mercy.

Only four rounds have been played in the 2022/23 Premier League season and yet the English top-flight has already witnessed its first managerial change.

And while this announcement came as a surprise to many, this decision took place at the most predictable club: Bournemouth. The newly-promoted side announced on Tuesday morning the departure of Scott Parker, with the Englishman leaving the club after a rough start to the campaign.

"AFC Bournemouth can announce that the club has parted company with head coach Scott Parker," the Cherries' statement read.

This decision came on the back of three consecutive defeats in the league, the most recent being their record-equaling 9-0 thrashing away to Liverpool. Sadly, Saturday's horrible loss at Anfield wasn't their only embarrassing result as they had conceded seven times in the two outings prior to that.

However, it should be noted that those two defeats came against the top two teams in the league currently. After kicking off the campaign with a lovely 2-0 win over Aston Villa, Bournemouth traveled to Manchester City and were beaten 4-0 before welcoming Arsenal in a 3-0 loss, meaning they have faced the Gunners, Klopp's side, and the defending champions in three out of their opening four games.

Additionally, it should be pointed out that there could be more to this sacking than simply the performances on the pitch. Club owner Maxim Demin also made a statement via the club's official website, hinting at a disagreement over the way the club is run financially as Parker was reportedly frustrated with the lack of investment, with the likes of Nottingham Forest and Fulham spending significantly more in an attempt to remain in the Premier League.

"I would like to place on record my gratitude to Scott and his team for their efforts during their time with us. Our promotion back to the Premier League last season under his tenure will always be remembered as one of the most successful seasons in our history," the Russian-born British businessman said.

"However, in order for us to keep progressing as a team and a Club as a whole, it is unconditional that we are aligned in our strategy to run the club sustainably. We must also show belief in and respect for one another. That is the approach that has brought this club so much success in recent history, and one that we will not veer from now. Our search for a new head coach will begin immediately."

The club have begun the search for a new head coach, but in the meantime, Gary O'Neil has taken over as a caretaker. The Englishamn will be thrusted into the dugout almost immediately as the Cherries are in action this midweek, taking on Wolves on Wednesday. The newly-promoted side are currently 17th in the table with three points on board, sitting ahead of only Leicester, Wolves—whom they will face—and Everton.
