The Welsh ace left the game against Villarreal at halftime, making it the thirteenth time in his career in which he's been subbed off due to an injury.

Some believe that Real Madrid should sign new players during the ongoing transfer window, but now, Los Blancos are in desperate need of new blood.

Once again, Gareth Bale will be left out of a league game since joining Real Madrid, as he left the pitch against Villarreal with a calf injury. The Welshman's frequent injuries have often made headlines, but the team's medical staff wants to keep this one close to their chest, especially since they don't know how much time he will need to recover.

Bale had been working quite well despite some minor injury setbacks until Thursday, when he was not able to complete the game against the Yellow Submarine. Bale had scored five goals in the team's most recent seven games, including a hat-trick in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals. But now, reports by Spanish newspaper As hint that Bale will need at least two weeks this time to recover from this problem.

What's really surprising is the amount of games and injuries Bale has picked up during his spell with Los Blancos. This new injury brings his tally to a whopping 22 injuries since he arrived in 2013, with eight of those having to do with his calves. All in all, Bale has been left out of 84 matches since he joined the team, more than one full season.

If the initial diagnosis stands, Bale will be out for the next three games: Sunday's match against Real Sociedad, Wednesday's Copa del Rey matchup against Leganés and the trip to face Betis.
