UEFA Champions League: Where to watch Manchester United vs Young Boys live on December 7, 2021

The story so far

Manchester United will host Young Boys at Old Trafford on Wednesday night and will hope to hand a number of their fringe players as well as their academy startlets the opportunity to feature in the competition this season. With a 2-0 win over Villarreal on Matchday 5 and a 3-3 tie between Atalanta and Young Boys, the Red Devils have clinched the group with one game to spare. As a result, the race for second place is all-or-nothing, with Atalanta and Villarreal set for a clash in their final group game in Bergamo, with the Spanish side leading by one point.

In contrast, Young Boys still have an outside chance of qualifying for the Europa League and will look to stage an upset at Old Trafford while hoping that the other group clash ends in a draw. The Swiss outfit defeated the Red Devils when they met earlier this season and will hope that the absence of several first team players for the Premier League outfit will accord them the luxury to nick the win.

Team news

Anthony Martial recently joined fellow Frenchman Paul Pogba on the sidelines and is expected to miss the upcoming meeting with Young Boys. Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane, Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani were all present at Carrington on Tuesday morning but are still doubts for Wednesday night's test.

Ulisses Garcia will miss the rest of the season after injuring his calf against FC Zurich. David von Ballmoos, Christian Fassnacht, Felix Mambibi, Jean-Pierre Nsame, and Cedric Zesiger are all expected to miss the trip to Manchester. With a head injury, Wilfried Kanga is questionable, although captain Fabian Lustenberger has recovered from a major Achilles condition.
