The manager's relationship with the Englishman fell apart following the player's nightclub scandal and the pair reportedly do not speak regularly.

It seems like a day cannot go by without a worrying report out of Manchester United emerging.

The latest story comes ahead of their FA Cup showdown with Nottingham Forest in the fifth round, with the Red Devils looking to return to winning ways following their weekend loss at home to Fulham.

Erik ten Hag will look to his key men for inspiration on the pitch, which includes the out-of-form Marcus Rashford. However, the attacker's relationship with the manager has reportedly hit rock bottom.

This is according to talkSPORT, with one "well-placed source" informing the British news outlet that things are "frosty" between the player and manager. The Sun goes into deeper detail regarding this issue, writing that this stems from Rashford's night out in Belfast last month.

The Englishman was due in training but called in sick on January 26, just 48 hours before the team's FA Cup fixture against Newport County. It was later revealed that Marcus had gone out the night before and had a tequila session in a nightclub in Belfast until the early hours of that day Manchester United had training.

The 26-year-old caught a private plane back to Manchester but was called to a meeting with an infuriated Ten Hag. To make matters worse, the Dutchman was further angered by the player's attempt to cover his tracks as he allegedly lied and claimed the incident took place 24 hours earlier than when it actually happened.

The attacker accepted responsibility and while he was dropped for that trip to Newport County, which they won 4-2, he was restored back to the team immediately after and even scored when they visited Wolves a few days later.

The manager stated that the matter was resolved when he sat in front of the press but this does not appear to be the case. In fact, staff at the club fear the pair's relationship has been irrevocably damaged.

This was not the first time Rashford landed himself in hot water over a night out. Just hours after Manchester United were beaten 3-0 at home to bitter rivals Manchester City, Rashford went out to celebrate his birthday.

This sparked anger from the fans and a warning from the manager. Unfortunately, the winger failed to avoid a repeat. And to make things worse, the Manchester United academy graduate is desperately struggling for form this season after enjoying a brilliant campaign during Ten Hag's debut season.

Last term, Rashford scored a whopping 30 goals across all competitions. Fast forward to today and he only has five goals to his name despite having played 31 matches.
