Fans of Manchester United have issued a call to the Premier League to overturn the red received by Casemiro in their win over Crystal Palace following the emergence of new evidence. The Old Trafford faithful has blamed the inconsistency of the Video Assistant Referee for the turn of events, citing that the real intention of the player in the scuffle was not accurately depicted.
On Saturday after, another keenly contested affair between Manchester United and Crystal Palace went right down to the wire at Old Trafford. An early goal from the penalty spot by Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford's second half strike had given the host a comfortable lead. However, they almost suffered a capitulation after Jeffery Schlupp reduced the deficit to one with his 76th minute strike, paving the way for the visitors to press on for an equalizer.
The nervy ending for Erik ten Hag's men was initiated by the 70th minute sending off of Casemiro following his involvement in a scuffle which began after Antony was fouled by Jeffery Schlupp. The former Real Madrid superstar received his marching orders for purportedly strangling Palace's Will Hughes while trying to break up the fight in a review by VAR.
Referee Andre Marriner's decision to dismiss Casemiro has not gone down well with fans of United, with some insisting that the player deserved a lesser punishment as his actions were grossly misinterpreted. In a video that has since emerged on social media, a different angle showed that the hands of the Brazilian international was barely around the neck of Hughes. Both players were also seen in an embrace afterward, an act which some believe corroborate with the former's efforts to help cool tempers.
Just watch closely Casemiro actually was hugging the guy pic.twitter.com/vXRnDiVBEK

Meanwhile, some are also of the view that Palace striker Jordan Ayew deserved to be hit with a retrospective punishment for also strangling Fred in the heat of the moment. The Ghanaian international's action went unnoticed by VAR, while both Antony and Schlupp were respectively shown the yellow card for starting the fracas.
Ayew on Fred #MUNCRY @ManUtd so does this get reviewed as all the officials missed it? pic.twitter.com/LKB3h2xIUz

It looks unlikely that Manchester United will appeal the decision taken against Casemiro as Erik ten Hag admitted in his post-match press conference that the Brazilian crossed a line. The former Madrid star is set to miss back-to-back games against Leeds United in the Premier League as well as the clash with Leicester at Old Trafford in two weeks time.
Here are a few reactions by Manchester United fans with regards to Casemiro's red card incident:
the picture is taken out of context. all casemiro does is drag him out of the fight and they hug it out. ayew actually grabbed fred's neck but of course it's the united player that has to get the card pic.twitter.com/Kdu7Oo0yWK

In the same scuffle as Casemiro's red card offence against Will Hughes…

Jordan Ayew does exactly the same to Fred? Not even looked at by VAR.
Baffling incompetency that is happening at Old Trafford far too often. pic.twitter.com/Wxw7bJHsWg
Reminder: If Manchester United appeal Casemiro's Red Card and lose it , there is a chance the FA can increase it to 4 games.

Another Blonder from EPL VAR Officials. this is not a red card, @Casemiro was holding him off from the fight and they later laughed and hugged each other...@Evra @GNev2 @EplPidgin @D_DeGea @MarcusRashford @Rasheedat08 @B_Fernandes8 @LukeShaw23 @antony00 pic.twitter.com/KL0ZXXMuIR

The more I see it the more I think we can have a successful appeal. Casemiro meant no malice, he was simple restraining Hughes.pic.twitter.com/o3a0gpggEO

Casemiro can't do what he did - grabbing Will Hughes by the throat - and deserved the red card. But Jordan Ayew also grabbed Fred by the throat, albeit more briefly, and didn't get any punishment #mufc #cpfc
