With just a few days to go until the 2024 NWSL season gets underway, fans are certainly looking forward to when they will get to see their favorite players and teams back on the pitch.
Fans based in the USA will have additional ways to follow games throughout the season. ABC and ESPN will be carrying a total of 20 NWSL matches throughout the season across their various platforms, including ESPN+ and ESPN Deportes. Here's the breakdown of who will be covering what:
- ESPN will cover seven games
- ESPN2 will cover nine games
- ABC will cover four games - including the season opener starring Kansas City and Portland Thorms which kicks off on March 16th at 1 pm EST (full coverage starts at 12.30 pm EST)
- ESPN Deportes will cover 13 matches
- ESPN+ will live stream 20 NWSL games in both English and Spanish
ABC's coverage of the season opener featuring Kansas City and Portland Thorns will be a historic event, as that match will be played at Kansas City's CPKC Stadium - which is the first ever venue built solely for a women's professional sports team in the United States.
Other exciting highlights from ESPN and ABC's coverage of the 2024 NWSL season opener include:
- An exclusive interview with new Kansas City boss Vlatko Andonovski, who is now taking charge of his first team following leaving the USWNT last season
In addition, the Kansas City vs. Portland Thorns match will also be covered by ESPN Deportes for Spanish-language TV access and live streamed in English and Spanish on ESPN+.
ESPN+ will also provide bonus programming on Friday, March 15th, with a special focus on the upcoming NWSL season.
