Seven winners with 23 goals scored between them, five clean sheets and only two goals allowed; six teams with a point apiece; and seven losers. These are numbers from Matchday 1 of the EPL which sees Manchester’s two giant clubs at the summit whilst London’s humiliated Blues currently share the bottom of the standings along with Watford (18th) and West Ham United (20th).
Manchester United 4-0 Chelsesa was the headline fixture of the 2019/20 Premier League’s opening round with 1.01 million viewers watching the match on NBC -- the biggest audience ever for an EPL opener. Also, since the 2014/15 season, no Premier League fixture has racked up as many views as this on cable in the United States. The last time a fixture surpassed this tally was in December 2015 as the Manchester Derby attracted 1.16 million viewers.
It’s now time for Matchday 2 and the match to watch on NBC and Telemundo is August 17’s late kick-off, Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur, with Arlo White and Lee Dixon acting as your commentators for the day. The pair will again call August 18’s most intriguing game, Chelsea vs Leicester City on NBCSN and Telemundo, as American gem Christian Pulisic hopes to have a dream competitive home debut.
