Wayne Rooney may no longer be at one of Europe's best leagues, but the Englishman is still doing bits in North America. The Man United icon grabbed all the headlines in Major League Soccer as he helped DC United beat Orlando City 3-2.
What did the 32-year-old do that was so special? First of all, with the game tied 2-2 and only a few seconds left on the clock, Rooney put in a tackle that prevented his team from losing.
His side was awarded a late corner kick, with the DC United goalkeeper leaving his line to join the opposition box. Unfortunately, the opposition cleared the ball and launched a quick counter-attack, but Wayne sniffed out the danger, tracked back, and stopped his opponent from scoring past an empty net with an amazing tackle.
What he did next was far more spectacular, though. The Englishman quickly got up, took the ball forward with three touches after winning it with his tackle, and then set up Luciano Acosta to score a last-gasp winning goal with an exquisite assist. Watch it in the video below.

Wayne Rooney just did this in the MLS. He tracked back from the corner, tackled his man perfectly and made an unreal assist for the winner in the last minute. This sums him up perfectly, absolute warrior. https://t.co/q95aU4cgao

I think Wayne Rooney ran more in that 15-second, stoppage-time sequence than Steven Gerrard did in his entire MLS career

LEGENDARY. https://t.co/1eeiZAD9Ms
Orlando, you had an open goal and only Wayne Rooney to beat. You allow him to make the tackle of the year, then place a perfect 50 yard cross to a 5'3 dude to dunk home the winner in stoppage time. Just fold your franchise.

I would break my controller, console, and possibly my TV if this happened to me in FIFA https://t.co/ZslLBVSAB8
