In an interview prior to the UEFA Euro 2016 Final, Tottenham's shot-stopper referred to the complicated moments his nation had to deal with before the competition began, and how their performance so far has given his compatriots something to smile about.
"We have had some tough times, with tragic events and events off the field, but we are proud to be on the pitch and really feel the French population behind us. The French people really needed to escape in this competition and sport has this strength to bring people together," Lloris stated.
The French captain (center) has allowed four goals so far in the competition.
Despite the good vibes that surround Les Bleus prior to the start of the game, the French captain is aware that none of this will matter if they don't end up winning the competition.
"We still have one step to take, though, if we are to finish this tournament in a good way," the player added.
Lloris denied that the team will step into the pitch of Stade de France believing they've won it all. According to his words, the team's ambition will be their fuel to achieve greatness.
