WATCH: Alaba makes history with stunning first El Clásico goal at Camp Nou

Real Madrid ended the first half of the game against Barcelona with the lead thanks to an impressive effort by David Alaba, who also made history for himself in the first 45 minutes of the match.

Carlo Ancelotti's men had their good portion of good luck after watching Barcelona waste at least two clear chances to score, and when they had one themselves, they were able to make it count thanks to the Austrian footballer.

Alaba's contribution during the play that ended up with the team's first goal of the evening was something else, as he stole the ball away from Memphis Depay just outside Real Madrid's box. To top it all, he was on the receiving end of a pass by Rodrygo, who assisted him to give Los Blancos the lead.

This goal gave David Alaba a chance to join a couple of elite lists of scorers. First off, he joined some top-class strikers with his box-to-box effort at Camp Nou.

If that was not enough, he also became the first Austrian player to score a goal in El Clásico while being a member of Real Madrid's squad. Before today, only two Austrian footballers had scored a goal in such a game, but both of them played for Los Blaugranas, according to stats expert Mister Chip.
