Barca boss aims dig at Matthäus over Messi - Lewandowski comparison

Every year, coaches and experts from around the world share their views on who should be considered the best player in the world. While Lionel Messi has taken most awards home year after year, a new contender emerges each season, and this time it was Robert Lewandowski who was named as a better player than the Argentine by Lothar Matthäus.

In what seemed as a direct reply to the 1990 World Cup winner with Die Mannschaft, coach Quique Setién admitted Lewandowski's skills, but he refused to set the Polish player in the same league as Lionel Messi.

"He (Lewandowski) is a great player, but he can't be compared to Leo, I think it's pretty clear. It's true, he is having a great season and he is being surrounded by talented players, but so is Leo,"Setién stated.

The former Betis boss added that Messi's influence and Lewandowski's great form will be a joy to watch for fans, regardless of which team they root for.

"We saw Leo against Napoli and we saw what Robert did against Chelsea. It will be a good thing to see these great players on the pitch and enjoy their performances," Setién added.

Coach Setién then referred to the key aspects in Bayern's game that could make the tie even more complicated for Barcelona.

"We have to worry about many things when it comes to Bayern. They are capable of pressing and defend themselves at the same time. It is yet to be seen if we can get away from their pressure. I don't see any team having a clear dominance of the game, it will be up to whoever takes better advantage of their chances," Setién concluded.
