Top 10 highest-paid players in Europe revealed as La Liga shockingly beats the Premier League to dominate this list

The Spanish top flight was the most represented league on this list, with Real Madrid (three players) beating out Man City, Barcelona, and Manchester United (two each).

Highly regarded French publication L'Equipe have revealed the top 10 highest-paid footballers in Europe, with La Liga shockingly beating the Premier League on this list.

L'Equipe (per Marca) compiled this list on a per-month basis, and to no one's surprise, PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe came out on top, earning a whopping €6M every month at the Parc des Princes.

The French sensation has been at the heart of a transfer tug-of-war for ages and while the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is expected to take a salary cut once he inevitably joins Real Madrid this summer, he currently earns nearly three times as much as the next best player on this list.

Who is the second-highest earner in Europe? That privilege goes to Bayern Munich star Harry Kane, at least on paper — more on that later. The English striker has been unstoppable in front of goal this season in the Bundesliga, scoring 37 goals and assisting an additional 12 in his debut season and proving to the Allianz Arena higher-ups that's he worth the €2.10M-per-month they pay him.

The Three Lions captain narrowly edged out third-placed Kevin de Bruyne, with the Manchester City wizard earning a reported €2.02M per month. Completing the top five are Cityzens teammate Erling Haaland (€1.90M) in fourth and Real Madrid's David Alaba in fifth (€1.88), making the Austrian defender the highest-paid player in La Liga.

However, according to the Daily Mail, that figure listed for Erling Haaland is merely his basic wages. His bonuses, labeled as "almost guaranteed" by the British tabloid, take the Norwegian's monthly earnings to roughly €4M monthly.

Manchester City are not the only Premier League side to make this list, with Manchester United having as many players (2) in the top 10 as their neighbors, with Casemiro (7th with an earning of €1.77M) and Raphael Varane (9th with an earning of €1.72M) making the cut. Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is the Premier League's other representative, coming in at joint-seventh alongside Casemiro with an equal monthly salary.

Interestingly, despite the financial issues facing several La Liga clubs, including continental powerhouse Barcelona, the Spanish top flight is the most represented league in the list of Europe's top 10 highest-paid players with six.

Only one made the top five and that was Alaba, with four of the six tied at 10th with a monthly earning of €1.67M. They are Real Madrid duo Vinicius Jr. and Jude Bellingham, Barcelona maestro Ilkay Gundogan, and Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak.

Additionally, Los Blancos have the most players on this list with three while rivals Barcelona have two, with Robert Lewandowski coming in at sixth (€1.87M). Check out the top 10 in full below.
