The Cityzens crashed out of the quarterfinals after losing to Los Blancos on penalties. However, Rodri did not think the better team won.

Manchester City have crashed out of the UEFA Champions League, with last season's treble winners losing to Real Madrid on penalties in a thrilling quarterfinal showdown. However, one Etihad Stadium player appeared frustrated with how the game panned out and aimed a dig at the Spanish giants following full-time.

That man is Rodri, who took issue with Real Madrid's approach to the game when questioned by reporters after the final whistle. According to the Spaniard, only one team wanted to play and that was the Cityzens.

To no one's surprise, Pep Guardiola's men dominated possession. However, after going 1-0 up (4-3 on aggregate) in the 12th minute through Rodrygo, Carlo Ancelotti's men decided to shut up shop and defend their lead.

Manchester City eventually found the equalizer through Kevin de Bruyne in the 76th minute, thus forcing the game into extra time, but this did not heavily shift Real Madrid's approach. The Premier League giants squandered a handful of opportunities but were ultimately left frustrated after losing on penalties.

"Today I only saw one team," Rodri said after the game when one reporter labeled both Manchester City and Real Madrid as the two best teams in world football.

"In terms of defending, they defended and knew how to suffer. We know how tough Real Madrid is but in my opinion, we should go through in terms of chances, everything," the Spanish midfielder added.

While the 27-year-old ended his interview by saying "they (Real Madrid) know how to play and congratulations to them", it has sparked controversy on social media, with some dubbing the Spaniard a sore loser while leading to debates as to which side played the right way.

As mentioned earlier, Manchester City dominated the ball, created more chances, and were generally the team probing for goals — this is partially due to them going a goal down early. However, Real Madrid ultimately came out on top and will be competing for a record-extending 15th UEFA Champions League title.

Bellingham and Co. are through to the semifinals where they will face Bayern Munich, with the Bundesliga giants eliminating Arsenal from the competition that same day. The first leg of this tie will take place at the Allianz Arena on April 30 while the return fixture is scheduled for May 8 at the iconic Santiago Bernabeu.
