After weeks and weeks of speculation, the rumors have finally been confirmed. Ivan Gazidis will step down at Arsenal to leave the English club for AC Milan.
The Gunners chief executive has long been tipped with a move to San Siro, having been offered a lucrative deal which includes a pay raise and an equity stake in the Italian club. And on Tuesday, the official announcement came via Arsenal's website.
"Although it is very hard to do - the hardest decision of my life - I believe that, after 10 years, it is the right time for me to step aside to allow new leadership, energy, and ideas to take the club forward into this exciting new era," Gazidis' statement read.
"I believe in the positive force of change, both for me and for the club. While this is the most difficult and challenging course for me, I am excited to see what the future holds for this great club."
Ivan's departure will come on October 31st, as he is set to take a similar role at AC Milan. Raul Sanllehi and Vinai Venkatesham have been chosen to lead the north London side, being named the head of football and managing director respectively.
It will be interesting to see what impact Gazidis' exit will have on the London giant. Hated by the club's fan base previously, he has done a lot to win over supporters and steer the club in a promising direction by playing a key role in the acquisitions of Mislintat, Sanllehi, and Emery.
This announcement has come just days before Unai's men begin their Europa League campaign. The Emirates Stadium side is gearing up to host Vorskla on Thursday in the beginning of what they hope to be a title-winning season.
