The Gabonese superstar has always stated he wants to play in La Liga, giving Los Blancos' fans some hopes of having him around next season.

It seems like Real Madrid beat Barcelona in the race to sign the 2015 African Player of the Year winner, as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has gone on the record referring to a possible move to La Liga.

Speaking to Spanish radio station Cadena Cope, the Bundesliga striker shared his thoughts on where he would like to play if he joined a Spanish team in the near future.

"I am not able to say which side I favour, because anything can happen. But I am closer to Madrid than Barcelona, and I like Real Madrid a little more than Atletico. I am focused on finishing the season with my team, we do not know what will happen, but I have a contract until 2020,"Aubameyang stated.

The Gabonese player, who's grandmother hailed from Spain, has scored 25 goals for Borussia Dortmund this season. Despite his efforts, the yellow-and-black side has been eliminated from the Europa League and rank second in the domestic tournament, five points behind Bayern Munich with two games to be played.

Despite his desire to play with the Spanish capital giants, Aubameyang also predicted how he thinks the UEFA Champions League will end. According to the player, Real Madrid will reach the final, but the trophy will end up elsewhere.

"I believe there will be a Spanish final, but I think Atlético will win it. Atlético reminds me of Borussia Dortmund back in 2013, a tough team to beat. I think they'll go all the way," "Auba" added.

Borussia Dortmund will try to do their job when they visit Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, knowing that Bayern Munich can crown themselves with a simple draw against Ingolstadt.
