Spurs come into this match at the back of a three match winless run and will be hoping to make amends when they face Sunderland on Saturday. They were against Leicester City last time out, a match they lost courtesy of a solitary goal from Robert Huth.

For manager Mauricio Pochettino  the defeat was difficult to accept with his team failing to convert the chances they created. Harry Kane hit the crossbar and Erik Lamela missed two good chances.

As an outcome of the result, Leicester are on level points with league leaders Arsenal, whereas Spurs are fourth, seven points adrift the top of the table. Pochettino claimed that there were a lot of positives to take from the defeat but was disappointed with his side's inability to convert chances.

"We gave our all and created chances. We need to take the positives and prepare for Saturday [against Sunderland]," he told reporters.

"If you don't score they are always alive and motivated. It's difficult to accept when you give your all. Our effort was unbelievable.

"We created more than them but lost. We need to be stronger and learn."

Ben Davies further highlighted that the mood in the dressing room was rather dull after the defeat. However the full back was confident that his team will respond in their upcoming match.

"We're gutted. We're angry and disappointed. We've been caught with a sucker punch," he said.

"We'll need to get back on the training pitch. Fortunately there's another game quickly and no time to dwell on it."

Sunderland on the other hand find themselves in the relegation zone but will be delighted after defeating Swansea in a six goal thriller last time out. Defoe who has been in formidable form this season having found the back of the net nine times in the league, is poised to lead the line against his former side. The 33 year old has the sixth best goals to minutes ratio among Premier League strikers who have scored six or more goals.

He will not be joined in attack by Dame N'Doye who is awaiting a work permit as he hopes to finalize his loan switch from Trabzonspor. The Black Cats are likely to be without the likes of Sebastian Larsson and Younes Kaboul.

Tottenham on the other hand will be without midfielder Ryan Mason as well as Clinton N'Jie.
