The England international played his first game under new manager Jurgen Klopp and he did not disappoint. Soon after his brace for the Merseyside club, football fans on Twitter made fun of his England counterpart Wayne Rooney.
The 30-year-old has been out of form lately, both for club and country. Surprisingly, Sturridge, who has spent the better part of the season off the field due to injuries, seems to have scored more goals than his Manchester United counterpart.
Despite his injuries, Sturridge has scored four goals for Liverpool compared to Rooney, who has featured in almost every game for United this season. The former Everton man may not have been present at the St. Mary’s stadium to watch The Reds demolish The Saints but a quick glance on Twitter was all he needed to understand how poor he has been this season.
Here are some of the best Tweets

In 5 games, Sturridge has already matched Balotelli's goal tally from last season. Unreal.

Wayne Rooney: 12 games. 2 goals. Divock Origi: 1 game. 3 goals. Not jumping to conclusions, but Rooney might be as good as Origi one day.
