There is no set timeframe for the return of both players. Madrid will have to play two games within 24 hours of one another.

The BBC will be without Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo for the two games that Real Madrid will play in the Audi Cup. Both players got injured during a training session in Munich and have already been put in the injured list for the tournament in Munich, Germany.

With the games being played in consecutive days, there is no way that they can recover in time to play either the final or the match for third place. Los Merengues will face Tottenham in their opening game and continue against either Bayern Munich or AC Milan on Wednesday.

CR7 hurt his back during training while the Frenchman pulled a muscle in his right thigh. Now both have been evaluated by Madrid's medical team and they have issued a statement with Benzema's condition.

"Following tests carried out on Karim Benzema by the Real Madrid Medical Services at the Sanitas La Moraleja Hospital today, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury in his right thigh. His condition will be evaluated."

Rafa Benitez is confident that Benzema will be with the team once the season starts on August 23 against Sporting Gijon. At the same time he is happy with the selection of goalkeepers he already has at his disposal, avoiding to make any comments on the possibility of David de Gea joining his team.

"I think Benzema is going to stay with us. I’m very happy with him. There’s no reason to think that he’s going to go,” Benitez said. "We have three very good keepers. I can talk about them, not other goalkeepers.”
