The former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder has been in top form since making a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Since making a return to the Premier League this summer, Cesc Fabregas has been in brilliant form for Chelsea.

The 27-year-old, who began to establish himself as one of the world's top midfielders while at Arsenal, spent three seasons at boyhood club Barcelona prior to joining Jose Mourinho's side. Meanwhile, the Blues are flying high at the summit of the league table and Fabregas has formed a brilliant partnership with Diego Costa, who has also hit the ground running since making his own move from Spain.

With a whopping 10 assists and one goal so far in the league--meaning that he has contributed to over one third of Chelsea's 30 goals so far--some have already began to wonder whether he could be a serious contender as the best ever creative midfielder in the league's history.

English publication Metro cites his performance against West Brom this past weekend as evidence of this claim, with some impressive stats below:

Not only did he come close to breaking Yaya Toure's benchmark for most touches in a game with 174 but also beat out Manchester United legend Paul Scholes' record for the most successful passes in the final third of the pitch.

Certainly, if Fabregas can keep this up this season, Arsenal fans will still be wondering why Arsene Wenger passed on signing his former captain.
