Jose Mourinho has had plenty to say to the media recently. He has also been involved in many transfers already. Diego Costa and Filipe Luis have joined from Atletico Madrid while the services of Cesc Fabregas have been acquired from Barcelona. Thibaut Courtois will be returning from Atletico as well. Meanwhile, in what can be considered shrewd business, Mourinho also sold the magnificent but oft careless David Luiz to PSG.
What cannot be forgotten is Mourinho did not get his hands on a single trophy last season. The English Premier League trophy escaped from under his nose. The FA Cup and Carling Cup proved to be beyond him. A good run in the UEFA Champions League came to an end in a defeat in Stamford Bridge in the semifinals to Atletico which probably reminded everyone involved that parking the bus is not always a solution. Mourinho's teams usually play boring but effective football; however, boring football is only tolerable if it yields trophies.
Everyone is aware of how impatient a man Roman Abramovich is. Mourinho has done most of his summer dealings; he has to make sure he has closed some good ones. He is also seemingly looking to bring back a former ally of his in Didier Drogba. Only Mourinho knows whether Chelsea will look to entertain and win or simply park the bus. Mourinho, though, before looking to his new signings, could accept some help from his World Cup winner, Andre Schürrle.
However, he knows he is expected to prepare a team of future champions in the upcoming friendlies, not just a team of some of the best talents of the world, strangely parking the bus and ending an entire season with no medals to add to their glorious collections.
