John Terry believes that Chelsea still have a narrow chance to defend their English Premier League title despite being 12 points behind league leaders Manchester United...
The Blues captain has based his faith on mathematical probabilities and on Chelsea’s fixtures list which will see them come up against teams that are currently above them in the EPL standings. This huge agenda starts with a home game against Manchester United on March 1.

It follows with two more home games against Manchester City 19 days later and Tottenham Hotspur on April 30 before ending with a crucial away encounter against Manchester United again on May 7. After that, Chelsea will play Newcastle United and Everton to complete their 2010/2011 English Premier League campaign.

According John Terry, 5th placed Chelsea are not dead and buried yet. The skipper is looking at a huge comeback from the Blues in the race for the league title.

However, he has also warned his side of the importance of Tuesday’s titanic clash at the Bridge – Chelsea vs Manchester United. In an interview with The Sun, the 30-year-old defender shared his opinions:

“There's a really small chance we can still win the title; but only if we beat United next week. 12 points is a big gap to close but it's been done before.

“[Manchester] United did it to Newcastle not so many years ago. So... it is possibl. We’ll do all we can to apply as much pressure as possible on the teams above us.

“I'm not going to hype next week's game because Chelsea v [Manchester] United is always massive. But, for us, it's a must-win.

“Even a draw is not good for us, so we must approach it with no fear and plenty of passion. Man United are a very good side but I don't think anyone should be fearful of them.”

Referring to Wolverhampton Wanderers’ breaking of Manchester United’s unbeaten record, John Terry continued:

“They are not invincible and we've seen this season they can be got at.

“Our situation now is similar to last year when we had a lot of big games against the top teams in the title run-in and came through them.

“We went away to Liverpool and [Manchester] United and won them both and those results proved crucial in us doing the Double.
“And I think that experience can be crucial in the weeks ahead because we've been there, done it and got the T-shirt.”

Chelsea are 5th in the English Premier League and 2 points behind Tottenham Hotspur who suffered a shock against Blackpool in midweek. The Blues were supposed to play Birmingham City this weekend, but the match has been postponed since Alex McLeish’s men have a Carling Cup final to play against Arsenal on Sunday.
