West Brom will visit Anfield in a game where nothing is for certain and no one can be happy of where they are at right now. Liverpool in tenth place but only nine points behind first place and West Brom in 13th hoping to stay in contention for a top-ten finish.
Liverpool's Preview
Jurgen Klopp knows that he didn't get hired only to keep his team in the top half of the table, but that he was hired to bring Liverpool back to glory. A tenth place in the Premier League after 15 games is not what the team's officials were planning back in August for this team, but everyone at Anfield knows they can improve.
Two losses in their previous four games is not something they can brag about. The team has had to deal with many injured players throughout the season, but they can believe that the available players have what it takes to push harder in every match.
Something that Klopp knows they can improve in is their defense. Ever since the German manager came into the team, they have only kept two clean sheets in seven games. That is something that Klopp has expressed not to like.
When Liverpool gets to play at home, they struggle offensively. The team has only scored eight goals while playing in Anfield this season. Only three other EPL teams have a worst record than them. The success of most teams is based on what they can do at home, taking advantage of their turf, something The Reds haven't done.
Their goal differential has suffered because of that. They have scored 18 goals this season and received 17, a record that even fans can feel ashamed of when we are talking about Liverpool. The only solution to this problem is a more consistant performance and more goals, along with a stronger defensive game.
West Brom's Preview
The visiting team is on a roll and what a better place than Anfield to continue showing how strong they can be. This season they have won five games, drawn four and lost six, but the last of those defeats happened four games ago. They even beat Arsenal 2-1 to start the unbeaten run they are enjoying right now.
When it comes to goal scoring, they have struggled even more than Liverpool as only two teams are behind them in that department. West Brom has scored only 14 goals this season, five less than the amount of balls they have had to take out of their own net.
The good news for the Baggies is that Claudio Yacob is back after serving a one-game suspension. He has been doing a good job in West Brom's midfield so far this season and his return can only be seen as a good thing for Tony Pulis roster.
At the same time, there are two players that will not be available for the team due to injuries. Stephane Sessegnon and Ben Foster have not been able to recover in time to be considered for the game at Anfield.
Three of the wins that the Baggies have earned this season have happened on the road. That means that visiting a team like Liverpool is not something they may seem afraid of doing, knowing that and also being conscious that The Reds have had a hard time at home.
Pulis hopes that his team can go into the winter break inside the top ten. With a win in their next game, that would not sound like a crazy idea. If they drop points in this game, they might have to wait until next year to believe in a top-ten finish.
