The Netherlands international has been ruled out of his club's pre-season campaign and will miss the early weeks of the new season with the German giants after picking up a groin injury in Bayern Munich's friendly win away to Lippstadt.

Despite his many injuries throughout his career, the striker declared he will not quit international football. In a recent interview, the 32-year-old played down talks of retiring from his national team, saying:
"No. No, not at all. Not yet.
"Of course, you think about every situation, and especially the physical stuff is an issue for me. You can have some more breaks [if you leave international football] which might be good but I'm very proud to be able to play for Netherlands.
"I'm the team's captain, and it's an honour to play for your country. And I don't want to abandon that yet."
The Dutchman has made 88 caps with the Oranje, netting 30 goals in the process.
