AS Roma defender John Arne Riise has came out and apologized to fans for his crucial mistake that allowed Shakhtar to score their third goal in the Champions League tie last night.
Roma defender Riise was utterly disappointed with the result last night that saw Shakhtar taking a three away goal advantage back home.

Riise was also frustrated by the mistake he made in the first half that gifted the visitors their third goal.

"I think today we played well, but after our first goal I don't know what happened. I made a mistake for the third goal but I think we can win away," Riise said, according to Sky Sport Italia.

When asked whether Roma have a defensive problem, Riise admitted that they do have a problem when it comes to defence.

"I think so; I also heard the fans were against me. Now I feel bad, really bad. I never want these things to happen. I was ready for the second-half and I hope the fans understand that I always try to do my best. I apologise to everyone," the left-back said.

"It's not just the defence; all eleven players must run and do better. Now for me it is hard to think of this, I can only think of my mistake and it hurts."

John Arne Riise was substituted at half time after a bad first half that saw him gift Shakhtar their third goal which eventually was the winner.
