Liga MX Final: First leg
Most-watched football games in the United States: May 9-15, 2022
The last few weeks in terms of sports TV ratings had been dominated by either UEFA Champions League and Premier League matches. That trend did not continue this week, as Liga MX stepped back and reclaimed its throne as one of the most watched leagues in the United States with the top three most-viewed games in North America.
Surprisingly, a mid-week match between Puebla and América claimed the top spot of the week, with just a bit over 750,000 average users watching the game that ended in a draw. The second most-watched game featured Clausura 2021 champions Cruz Azul and Tigres UANL in an exciting clash that concluded in a one-nil victory for Cruz Azul.
The third-ranked game in this listing also had two Mexican teams involved: Pachuca and San Luis. The hosts prevailed despite a late surge by San Luis and made it to the semifinals thanks to this crucial 3-2 victory. The first leg of this clash also gave TUDN a chance to brag since their midweek clash had over 340,000 average users on Wednesday, meaning that almost one million fans were keeping an eye on the outcome of that playoff tie.
What are this week's must-watch games?
Man City vs Aston Villa and Liverpool vs Wolves live this Sunday at 11 a.m. in the final round of the 2021/22 Premier League season
The 2021/22 Premier League season comes to a wrap this Sunday. All 10 fixtures in the 38th and final matchweek of the English top-flight will commence simultaneously as Manchester City and Liverpool look to get their hands on the title. The Cityzens boast a one-point advantage at the top, meaning they will simply need to match the Reds' result. Unfortunately, De Bruyne and Co. will lock horns with Gerrard's tricky Aston Villa side as the Anfield icon will likely be keen on doing his former club a favor in the title race.
As for Klopp's men, they will be facing Wolves, one of the toughest teams to break down this season. The title race is out of Liverpool's hand as they will need a favor from Aston Villa, be it a draw or win at the Etihad Stadium, and a victory over Wolves to get the title. If that takes place, this would complete the Merseyside giants' domestic treble, having already lifted the Carabao Cup and FA Cup titles.
And that's not all! While Tottenham appear all but destined to qualify for the UEFA Champions League thanks to their two-point advantage and superior goal difference over fifth-placed Arsenal, the race for a top four finish will also come to a climax this weekend. Additionally, with Everton having beaten Crystal Palace and securing their safety, Leeds and Burnley are the only two remaining teams in a relegation battle that will go down to the wire.
Roma vs Feyenoord live this Wednesday at 3 p.m. ET in the UEFA Europa Conference League final
The second of Europe's three club finals will take place this midweek as Wednesday will see the UEFA Europa Conference League come to a wrap, following up on last Wednesday's Europa League final. Here, Jose Mourinho's Roma will do battle with Dutch heavyweights Feyenoord. The Italian outfit endured a tough but entertaining showdown with Leicester in the semifinals while the opposition overcame French giants Marseille to make the final. Which side will get their hands on the inaugural title? Make sure to catch this fixture.
The upcoming week in women's football will bring fans closer to decisive moments in the premier club competitions across the globe.
The "main course" will undoubtedly be the clash between Barcelona and Lyon, who will lock horns to determine the winner of the UEFA Women's Champions League. Nevertheless, there will be other interesting matches taking place to enjoy the heroics of some of the best female players in the world.
Let's have a closer look at what U.S. fans will be able to watch on TV or stream via their mobile devices.
UEFA Women's Champions League, and the Coppa Italia Final live on ATA Football
The game between Barcelona and Lyon could be one of the most-watched in women's football history, and fans in the U.S. will be able to stream it live on ATA Football.

The French side return to the title clash after missing out on the last edition, while Barcelona are aiming to win their second UWCL crown in a row.
If this match is not appealing enough for you, how about watching a bit more of Italian football? With the game between Juventus and Roma for the Coppa Italia Femminile final set to take place this Sunday, fans will also be able to get a glimpse of the best Italian footballers while also being witnesses of Juventus' run for a second trophy this season after winning the 2021-22 Serie A title.

Biggest stories of the week
USMNT and USWNT reach historic agreement regarding pay
Despite their dominance on the world stage, the USWNT have struggled in recent times, namely when it comes to equal pay.
Well, their battle now seems to have come to a resolution, as it was announced that the USSF (United States Soccer Federation), the USWNT, and the USMNT have achieved what has been described as a "historic" collective bargaining agreement (CBA). CBAs are commonplace in the USA, namely in professional sports such as the MLB (Major League Baseball), MLS (Major League Soccer), NBA (National Basketball Association), NFL (National Football League), and the NHL (National Hockey League) in conjunction with those leagues respective players' associations.
However, this is not as commonplace in international football, especially when it comes to payment for players for the national team. Norway made major waves back in October 2017, when the country's football association announced a huge bump in pay for the women's team, meaning that female players would make the same as their male counterparts when it comes to representing the country at competitions.
The agreement between the USSF, USWNT, USMNT and relevant players' associations will basically see the women's team receive equal pay for taking part in competitive appearances as well as equal share of commercial revenue.
This plan is supposed to run through 2028, and while it is indeed promising, some have raised concerns.
Namely, the discrepancy between the prize pools of the men's and women's World Cups. The upcoming showpiece event in Qatar has an estimated prize pool of about $440 million, while the women's event in 2023 is only expected to have a prize pool of about $60 million.
But with both teams agreeing to pool the prize money and split it between them, this will certainly benefit the women's team, who many have felt have been grossly underpaid for years - especially considering their success at World Cups versus the men's team's struggles.
Transfer: Man City eyes summer move for former Barcelona full-back
Premier League club Manchester City are reportedly eyeing a summer move for former Barcelona and Getafe full-back Marc Cucurella. The 23-year-old defender has been identified as the ideal player to occupy the left-back position that has been vacant for the most part of this season.
Owning to the suspension of Benjamin Mendy earlier this season, Man City have struggled to properly man their left back position. As a result, they have resorted to using the versatile Joao Cancelo in the position and the Portuguese, who ranks among the club's best players of the season, has featured their 31 times across all competitions this season. In the meantime, Oleksandr Zinchenko has also been used as the second-choice option for the left-back position.
With the summer transfer window just around the corner, City are eager to bolster their ranks. The arrival of Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland for next season is no secret and the Premier League's defending champions are said to be looking at adding Marc Cucurella to their books. The defender, who was at Barca between 2012 and 2017, joined Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 2021 from Getafe for a reported fee of $19.3M. His current contract at the club expires in the summer of 2026 but, according to the Daily Mail, Pep Guardiola is convinced about his talent and what he could offer his side.
Last week, Cucurella scored his first goal in the Premier League when his Brighton side hit the Red Devils for four at the Amex Stadium. It is speculated that he will cost Man City a little over $34M if they are to bring him to the Etihad for next season. Meanwhile, Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the player's situation as well.
Highly-rated youngster included in Mexico's CONCACAF Nations League squad
The Mexican National Team's scouts have hit the nail on its head with the confirmation of Arsenal starlet Marcelo Flores as part of the team for years to come.
The footballer issued a press release yesterday revealing his decision to play for the Mexican team rather than choosing other countries to play national team football. Flores had been sought out by Canada and England since his mother is Canadian and due to the fact that he has played for Arsenal's age-limited teams for quite a while. Nevertheless, Flores has decided to play for El Tri, with the possibility of making it to the 2022 FIFA World Cup still there.
Now, the next step for Mexico was to give Flores an official call-up to play a competitive tournament with El Tri to confirm his availability. With that in mind, Mexico's coach Gerardo Martino decided to include the footballer in the squad that will be playing in the CONCACAF Nations League next month. Added to that, Flores may be given a chance to play in some of the friendlies El Tri have scheduled for the next month and with the FIFA World Cup in mind.
Messi's entourage addresses claim he'll be joining and acquiring shares in Beckham's Inter Miami
The player's agent and father Jorge recently hinted at a return to Barcelona, albeit not this summer. However, the latest rumors have been linking the Argentine superstar with a move to the MLS. It comes as little surprise, but that club is none other than Inter Miami, David Beckham's well-known North American side.
This is according to Alex Candal of DIRECTV Sports, claiming that the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner will team up with Beckham in 2023, when his current contract with PSG runs out. Additionally, the report adds that the South American icon would acquire 35% of the Inter Miami shares.
However, is there any truth in this claim? Le Perisien have challenged this story, with the French publication writing that a member of La Pulga's entourage has confirmed to them that the aforementioned report is a complete fabrication.
According to that entourage, Messi has made no decision in regards to his future and any discussions or run-ins with Beckham would have been due to the Englishman's role as an ambassador for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
"It is completely false," the source is quoted as saying (as per Argentine journalist Roy Nemer).
"Leo has not yet decided his future. And if Messi has crossed paths in recent hours with David Beckham it is only in the context of PSG's stay in Doha where the former England midfielder plays an ambassadorial role for the next World Cup in Qatar."
Nonetheless, this is not to say that there is no interest from the player or the Inter Miami owner in bringing the Argentine to Florida. The attacker is a huge admirer of the city and has confessed his desire to one day play in North America. Beckham, on the other hand, is keen on brining a world-class player to his young team and Leo would fit that bill perfectly.

El Clasico: Real Madrid and Barcelona 'set' for pre-season clash in Las Vegas
Significant progress in talks have been made for Barcelona and Real Madrid to feature in an El Clasico in the United States this summer. The Spanish giants are expected to lock horns at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas as part of their pre-season preparations before the start of the 2022/2023 campaign.
A number of top European clubs are expected to tour the United States as they ready their squad for the new season. On Wednesday, it was confirmed that Chelsea will take on Club America inside the Allegiant Stadium on July 16. Now the venue has been tipped to host one of the biggest footballing rivalries with talks reaching an 'advanced stage'.
According to Spanish publication AS, an agreement is yet to be reached, but there is growing optimism that Allegiant Stadium will host the encounter. A date is yet to be determined although speculations suggest that it could happen between July 19 and July 30.
Allegri addresses rumors linking Man Utd star Paul Pogba with a return to Juventus
Bianconeri manager Massimiliano Allegri was asked about rumors linking Paul Pogba with a return to Turin in the aftermath of the club's recent 2-2 draw with Lazio in Serie A. With the Old Lady waving goodbye to Paulo Dybala this season and having lost Rodrigo Bentancur to Tottenham, the Italian tactician was asked if he is keen on reuniting with his former French midfielder.
Allegri, probably irritated at seeing his side drop points in the league, refused to spill the beans on his team's transfer plans for the summer. The manager gave an extremely coy answer when talking to DAZN, stating that he does not remember much about Pogba in an attempt to dodge the question.
"I don't know him, who is he? Is that an English word?" he told DAZN. "I forgot, it's been too many years."
Aaron Ramsey misses crucial penalty as Frankfurt beat Rangers to clinch Europa League title
Eintracht Frankfurt have been crowned the champions of the 2021/2022 UEFA Europa League after defeating Rangers in Wednesday's final. After 120 minutes of football action in which the score line stood at 1-1, Aaron Ramsey's missed spot-kick proved to be the deciding factor as the Bundesliga club secured a 5-4 win via penalties in Seville.
After a cagey first 45 minutes, Rangers broke the deadlock inside the 57th minute. Nigerian midfielder Joe Aribo capitalized on a defensive mistake and managed to glide into the Frankfurt penalty box before slotting the ball past Kevin Trapp. 12 minutes later, Rafael Borre restored parity following a momentarily lapse in concentration among the Rangers defense. The Colombian reacted quickly inside the penalty area to redirect Filip Kostic's teasing cross into the net.
The score line remained the same after 30 minutes of extra-time, although Rangers almost nicked the win but for Kevin Trapp's point-blank save in the 118th minute. The German shot-stopper emerged as the hero once more in the shoot-out, stopping substitute Aaron Ramsey's shot through the middle.
