Tottenham, who are gearing up for their upcoming clash with RB Leipzig, have received a huge blow amid their top-race in the Premier League and Champions League round of 16 showdown.
The north London giants will be without star attack Heung-Min Son who has suffered an unfortunate arm injury. Spurs announced this on Tuesday in a public statement that the attacker will be out for a number of weeks but Mourinho confessed later on in a press conference that he doesn’t expect the 27-year-old to play again this season.
The club revealed that the South Korean ace picked up a fracture in his right arm and is set to undergo surgery. Their statement read: "Heung-Min Son is to undergo surgery this week after sustaining a fracture to his right arm.
"The South Korea international suffered the injury during our win against Aston Villa on Sunday.
"Following surgery, our medical staff shall be reviewing management options for Son’s rehabilitation with the player expected to be sidelined for a number of weeks."
Son picked up this injury over the weekend in his team’s 3-2 Premier League win over Aston Villa. He suffered a blow after an unfortunate collision with Konso in the first minute. Despite appearing to be in pain, he received on-the-pitch treatment and played the entire 90 minutes.
His presence was vital for Mourinho’s side as he scored a brace, including a late winner, to hand Tottenham all three points. However, speaking ahead of their clash with RB Leipzig, Jose said that we should not count on the Asian sensation this season.

"I don't count on him to play again this season, he's very optimistic but I hope he's right, in my mind I'm not thinking about that" pic.twitter.com/hdgM1iRVrH
Spurs are currently only a point behind fourth-placed Chelsea and given their form, the north London giants were on the trajectory to leapfrog the Blues. Son’s injury will derail their Champions League hopes.
