The English outfit failed to meet Los Blaugrana's valuation of the player.

La Liga giants Barcelona have reportedly rejected a bid from an unnamed Premier League club for Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic. The offer which was refuted by the Catalans was apparently in the region of 15 million euros, a figure which is a long way short of the Camp Nou outfit's 35 million euros valuation of the player.

Despite contributing significantly to the success enjoyed by Barcelona since his arrival from Sevilla in 2014, Rakitic has become surplus to requirement under manager Ernesto Valverde. At the moment, Arthur, Sergio Busquets, Sergi Roberto and Arturo Vidal all rank ahead of him in the pecking order and the arrival of Frenkie de Jong this summer has further taken a toll on his chances of playing.

With the Dutch midfielder being Valverde's first choice this season, Rakitic has only made 10 appearances for Barcelona this season, starting just one of such games. Just recently, the 31-year-old Croatian confessed to Universo Valdano he felt "sad" about not getting playing opportunities.

One way for the midfielder to get regular playing time will be to leave the Camp Nou and according to Sport, the opportunity presented itself albeit Barcelona throwing the offer from the Premier League side out of the window. The Catalan newspaper also claimed that the former Sevilla skipper does not fancy a move to England.

Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid as well as Italian pair Inter Milan and Juventus are believed to be keeping tabs on Rakitic with the likelihood of Barcelona cashing in on him in January increasing.
