The Argentine striker could face dire consequences by defying the orders of the Nerazzurri.

Mauro Icardi is considering the possibility of staying at Inter Milan, reports from Italy have revealed. The former Nerazzurri skipper, however, risks missing playing no football for a full season as he remains outside the plans of the club.

Not much has gone in favor of the Argentine striker since the arrival of Antonio Conte, with the player currently exiled from the first team. The Italian manager has already prepared for life without the 26-year-old forward by signing Manchester United's Romelu Lukaku to lead the lines for his side.

As a result, Icardi is expected to seal a move elsewhere before the European transfer window officially closes. The likes of AS Monaco as well as Napoli were all believed to be interested in recruiting the ex-Sampdoria star but reports from Italy suggest that he is not in favor of any and has, as a result, turned down offers from both clubs. Juventus are also keen on the striker's signing but would need to lay off a few of its big names in order to make a room for his acquisition.

With the search for a suitor still ongoing, Sky Italia has reported that Icardi could make a sensational U-turn on his purported departure from Inter Milan. Despite the Nerazzurri making it clear that he remains outside the plans of the club, the 26-year-old striker's representatives supposedly sent a letter to the club to reconsider its stance last week.

As per the report, the player's entourage have asked the Serie A outfit to reintegrate the player into the first team following consultations with a legal expert. Still, the club is not expected to budge to the demands of the exiled star who could miss out on playing for a season should he fail to secure a move to another club before the transfer window closes.
