Both Premier League clubs will reportedly have to watch Nabil Fekir play in La Liga from this summer onwards.

Just when Arsenal and Liverpool had a fighting chance of signing Nabil Fekir, a La Liga side was quicker than them to force the deal.

Earlier today, Lyon's recently appointed manager, Sylvinho, admitted that the club's skipper is currently negotiating his exit from the French side.

"It is highly likely that he will leave. He is in the negotiation stage. It's good for him and for the club, I hope it will be resolved as quickly as possible," the Brazilian boss said.

Fekir was also linked to Valencia and Sevilla, but the green and white side seems to be in pole position to seal the deal.

The footballer's transfer will hand Lyon a huge blow in their expectations to compete against PSG and Lille for the Ligue 1 title. Even so, Sylvinho did not hold back when he was asked about his skills, adding a message for the player on his birthday.

"Of course we will miss him. He is a wonderful player, a very high level footballer, just seeing him drive the ball to training is a joy. I also want to take this opportunity to publicly wish him a happy birthday," Sylvinho added.

Fekir's signing with Betis may also mean good news for Tottenham Hotspur, since the French playmaker's signing would pave the way for Giovani Lo Celso's transfer to Spurs.

The footballer is set to end his six-year stint with Lyon, where he played 192 games in all comps. The playmaker managed to score 69 goals and handed out 46 assists during his time with the white and blue side.
