Ahead of the upcoming u-20 World Cup, Live Soccer TV takes a look at the four teams comprising Group A: Senegal, Tahiti, Colombia, and hosts Poland. Who is expected to go far, who's just there to make up the numbers, and could any of these teams possibly be a dark horse and shock everyone like Croatia did at the senior tournament last summer?

Group A, which includes Colombia, Senegal, hosts Poland, and Tahiti, seems to be a pretty balanced group - save perhaps for the minnows Tahiti - so three of these teams do have a realistic chance of getting to the next round on paper at least.

Let's have a quick look at who is who in Group A ahead of the upcoming under-20 FIFA World Cup set to kick off in less than a month's time.

Colombia

Currently led by Arturo Reyes, Colombia's u-20 team will be hoping to match the feat set back by the 2003 squad, who finished in third place. Having won the South American Youth Championship three times (in 1987, 2005, and 2013), the Cafeteros will be making their tenth appearance at the FIFA U-20 World Cup this summer and their first appearance since 2015 after failing to qualify for the 2017 edition in South Korea two years ago.

Colombia secured their ticket to Poland thanks to finishing fourth at the 2019 South American U-20 Championship. How far will they go at this competition? Well, their shot-stopper, Kevin Mier, was the only Colombian named in the team of the tournament and the 18-year-old, who plays his club football for Atlético Nacional. He will have to produce another strong performance, naturally, to help his team go far, but obviously he will need support from the men up front as well if Colombia want to go deep in this competition.

Poland

As hosts, Poland avoided qualification, and they will be making their fifth overall appearance and their first since 2007. The White Eagles' best finish was third back in 1983, but they failed to qualify for the next 11 competitions until the 2007 version staged in Canada. This is the first time Poland have hosted a FIFA tournament - although they did host the UEFA U-21 EURO tournament back in 2017 - and they will be hoping that their home pitch advantage could help them navigate through a tricky quartet.

Poland's recent results, however, haven't been that impressive. Between 2017 and 2018, they only won one of their eight games, including friendlies, and were beaten by Italy, Germany, Portugal, and England. Current coach Jacek Magiera will obviously be hoping for better results in front of his team's home fans when the competition kicks off.

Senegal

Did you know that Senegal were the first African side to secure their ticket to the upcoming under-20 FIFA World Cup? The Young Lions of Teranga will be making their third overall appearance (which is also their third straight tournament) this spring in Poland and have impressed in each of their prior two participations. In 2015, they made it all the way to the semi-finals, where they were beaten 5-0 by Brazil and settled for fourth place after losing 2-1 to Mali in an all-African battle in the third-place consolation tie.

Two years later, they were very unfortunate to see their run ended prematurely in the round of 16 by Mexico, and now Youssouph Dabo's side will be hopeful of staging another strong run when they arrive in Poland in just a few weeks' time.

Tahiti

Tahiti are making only their second appearance at a under-20 World Cup, and the tiny Pacific Island nation will be desperate to avoid the humiliation they suffered during their debut back in 2009. Ten years ago, they made history as the first island nation in the Pacific to qualify for a youth World Cup when they booked their ticket to Egypt, but the Aito Taure'a proved to be no match for a Spanish side packed with talent, as well as Nigeria and Venezuela as they exited the group stage without scoring a single goal (and conceded a whopping 21 in the process).

Despite their disappointment, many members of this team went on to make up the senior squad who featured at the 2013 Conferederations Cup in Brazil after managing to become continental champions in 2012, and so having the chance to feature here could prove to be a stepping stone once again for many of these young players. Clearly, coach Bruno Tehaamoana knows that his team will be the underdogs in this quartet and thus he will be hoping to help his team use this as a good learning experience as they at least try to score a goal or two - and who knows, perhaps even grab a point. Tahiti will be playing really for nothing but pride, but certainly they will want to go out with their heads held up high at their second ever participation at an under-20 World Cup.
