The Old Lady look to return to winning ways in this midweek clash, having fallen 10 points behind league leaders Inter Milan. Here's a preview of Juventus vs Spezia.

Juventus vs Spezia – preview

Juventus are back in action this midweek, taking on Spezia on Tuesday following their weekend disappointment in the Italian top-flight. The Serie A reigning champions will host the relegation-battling outfit at the Allianz Stadium at 2:45 p.m. ET as Cristiano and Co. look to make up ground in the title race.

The Old Lady will be aiming for a return to winning ways after suffer yet another slip-up. Pirlo's men took on mid-table side Hellas Verona on Saturday in what was expected to be a straight-forward affair for the Bianconeri but the Italian giants were held to an unfortunate 1-1 draw.

Ronaldo got on the scoresheet, netting his 19th goal of the Serie A campaign, but that was enough to earn his side all three points. This was the 10th time this season that Juventus failed to win a top-flight game, losing three and drawing seven in what has been an inconsistent title defense.

Due to the weekend stalemate, league leaders Inter Milan have pulled 10 points clear of Juventus. Second-placed AC Milan boast a seven-point advantage over Pirlo's men while fourth-placed Atalanta are now level on points with the Bianconeri.

The importance of winning this game goes further than the three points. Next Saturday, the Bianconeri will lock horns with Lazio and in a week's time, the Serie A heavyweights will host Porto in the 2nd leg of their round of 16 showdown. This European fixture is crucial given that Pirlo's men lost the first leg 2-1 and are in need of a comeback in order to secure progression.

Spezia recently beat AC Milan 2-0, showing that they can pull off an upset every now and then, but their overall form has not been great. The Aquilotti are winless in their last two games and have triumphed only twice in their last seven outings, which should give the home side confidence. The visitors boast a seven-point lead over 18th-placed Cagliari but should they lose at the Allianz Arena, Vincenzo Italiano's could edge closer to the danger zone.

Team news

Juventus: Paulo Dybala is yet to recover from his knee injury while Chiellini, Bonucci, and Cuadrado are also expected to miss this tie. Danilo is back from suspension but summer signing Arthur is a doubt.

Spezia: M'Bala Nzola made his return for the Aquilotti and should return to the lineup for the trip to Turin. Tommaso Pobega should return to fitness in time for this midweek clash but Riccardo Marchizza, Juan Ramos and Federico Mattiello are all tipped to miss this fixtures.
