Chelsea ended their Champions League campaign on an unpleasant note following Saturday's loss to Bayern Munich. The Blues found themselves setting two new unwanted records in the European competition after suffering a 4-1 defeat to the Bavarians inside Allianz Arena.
Ahead of the clash, Frank Lampard's brigade had a two-goal deficit to overturn in Germany as they had suffered a 3-1 loss in the first leg at the Stamford Bridge. However, Bayern Munich's exhilarating form meant that the job will be almost impossible.
Such was the case for the London club who had to fight from behind in as early as the 10th-minute, with Lewandowski scoring the opening goal via a spot-kick. 14 minutes later, the Polish striker assisted Ivan Perisic for Bayern's second before Tammy Abraham pulled one back for the visitors on the stroke of half-time.
7-1 - Chelsea's 7-1 defeat on aggregate to Bayern Munich was the second-heaviest inflicted on an English team in Champions League history, behind only Arsenal's 10-2 aggregate defeat in the last 16 in 2016/17, also against Bayern Munich. Hammered. pic.twitter.com/aKgh7NqhgF

A 76th-minute tap-in by substitute Corentin Tolisso out the game out of reach for Chelsea before Robert Lewandowski sealed a five-star performance with another strike to take his tally in this season's competition to 13 in seven outings.
For Chelsea, the aggregate scoreline to Bayern meant that for the first time in the club's history they have conceded seven goals in a two-legged European cup game. Also, the 7-1 aggregate defeat is now the club's biggest loss in a two-legged European tie.
79 - Chelsea conceded 79 goals in all competitions in the 2019/20 season, an average of 1.44 per game - their worst ratio in a season since the 1990/91 campaign (1.64 goals per game conceded). Problematic. pic.twitter.com/rKF3NF0C2G
