European football's governing body has suspended both competitions indefinitely due to COVID-19.

UEFA have postponed the Champions League and Europa League until further notice. This was the latest decision made by European football’s governing body due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite this, the plan at UEFA is to resume the 2019/20 campaign despite awarding priority to the domestic competitions. The organization reportedly is against staging the remaining games with the fans, with Caferin being against closed stadium.

This was not the only measure UEFA agreed to take in order to contain the spread of the coronavirus. All national team matches for men and women set to be played in June 2020 have been postponed until further notice, including the play-off matches for UEFA EURO 2020 and qualifying matches for UEFA Women’s EURO 2021.

Furthermore, the deadline for the 2020/21 UEFA club competitions have also been pushed back. This is in regards to the admission process and registration of players, with no specific date being set. All international friendlies remain postponed.

Other key decisions:

  • The UEFA European Under-17 Championship final tournament scheduled for May 2020 is cancelled;

  • The UEFA European Women’s Under-19 Championship final tournament scheduled for July 2020 is cancelled;

  • The UEFA European Women’s Under-17 Championship final tournament scheduled for May 2020 is postponed until further notice (as it is a qualifying competition for the FIFA U 17 Women's World Cup);

  • The UEFA European Under-19 Championship final tournament scheduled for July 2020 is postponed until further notice (as it is a qualifying competition for the FIFA U-20 World Cup).
