Revealed: What Cavani and Messi said to each other in Uruguay vs Argentina bust-up

Uruguay and Argentina showed that they don’t do friendlies. The two South American giants locked horns on Tuesday in an uncompetitive game but their match-up had everything, from the goals to the clashes.

Edinson Cavani and Lionel Messi, two of the biggest names representing their countries, were involved in a bit of an altercation in the game. The incident occurred during the first half after La Pulga was on the receiving end of a rough tackle from Matias Vecino.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner reacted angrily which resulted in Cavani squaring up to the Barcelona icon. According to Ole, Edinson said to Leo "Do you want to fight?" and the Argentine response was "Whenever you want, whenever you want."

Diego Godin intervened to separate the two before things escalated but the report claims their back-and-forth continued into the tunnel during half time. Cavani confirmed after the game that they had locked horns but brushed it aside a normal occurrence in a heated derby between two rivals.

The PSG forward broke the deadlock to hand La Celeste a 1-0, with Luis Suarez scoring his nation’s second goal courtesy of a free-kick. However, Leo earned La Albiceleste a draw, setting up the first of their two equalizers before scoring a stoppage-time penalty to make it 2-2.
