Barcelona may have had one of their worst starts in La Liga, but that is in the past already. Los Culés have managed to climb to the top spot in the Spanish top-flight, and to make things even sweeter for Messi and Co., they stole that top spot from Real Madrid's hands.
The team coached by Ernesto Valverde claimed one more win against Eibar this weekend, extending their historic dominance over this team and also adding a few milestones to their resume, including one that has to do with one of the club's moral leaders. Barcelona had never won a game in which Gerard Pique was out, with those clashes ending in five draws and one loss. Well, that drough without the center back is now over.
The Blaugrana side has never lost a game against Eibar, and they were sure to keep that streak going on Saturday's clash. But how does this reflect on Eibar's record in La Liga? Well, these numbers might give you an idea.
10 - No other side has won more LaLiga games against Eibar than Barcelona (10). In addition, the Blaugrana are the team with the most goals scored against them in the top-flight (36). Jam. pic.twitter.com/o34rUv7gkQ— OptaJose (@OptaJose) October 19, 2019
In other news, Atlético may not be having the best time in La Liga right now, but one of their players managed to add a record to his resume this weekend.
And then...over to Real Madrid. Los Blancos' impressive streak in La Liga came to an end this weekend, and fans chose to blame Thibaut Courtois for it. But are they right to do so? Let's see what stats have to say about that.
9 - Thibaut Courtois has conceded from nine of the last 14 shots on target he has faced for Real Madrid in all competitions. Vulnerable. pic.twitter.com/hxyCOQJUNx— OptaJose (@OptaJose) October 19, 2019
La Liga top scorers
Yes, Lionel Messi may not be among the top five scorers just yet, so the big news is that Karim Benzema is no longer the best striker in La Liga. After this weekend's games, that honor belongs to Betis' Loren Moron.
