The league's defending champions travel to Florence with the hope of ending their host's current three-game unbeaten run.

Preview

Fiorentina will welcome Serie A reigning champions Inter Milan to Stadio Artemio Franchi for their fifth league game of the season on Tuesday night. After putting together three successive wins at the beginning of the campaign, the Viola are now among the high-ranking sides in the league and are slowly growing in confidence with the prospect of finishing in a position to qualify for Europe within sight.

Vincenzo Italiano's side began the league with a disappointing 3-1 away defeat to Roma but have since picked up consecutive 2-1 wins over Torino, Atalanta and Genoa respectively. So far, they have conceded six goals from the four outings and have scored seven goals within the same period as well. While the form of club has been remarkable thus far, they will still have some loops to cover if they are to get the better of the dominating reigning champions.

In retrospect, Florentina have been unable to win this fixture since 2017. 11 matches have been played within the period, five of which have resulted in wins for Inter. In the grand scheme, La Viola do not come close to their nemisis from Milan as they have won 49 games and have lost 75 games in 181 fixtures. Needless to say, being among the most in-form teams in the league should provide its own motivation, especially taking into account the fact that striker Dusan Vlahovic's form is now in tact. The young attacker currently sits second in the list of Serie A leading scorers.

For Inter Milan, a host of players have equally exhibited their individual brilliance and the likes of Edin Dzeko, Lauturo Martinez and Joaquinn Correar can all be cited. The Nerazzrui approach the game on the back of an emphatic 6-1 win against Bologna. Edin Dzeko (2), Milan Skriniar, Matias Vecino, Nicolo Barella and Lautaro Martinez all got on the scoresheet in Saturday's rampage.

The result ended a run of two-games without a win for Inter Milan and set them on course to put together another potentially remarkable run. So far, they have managed 10 points from a possible 12 and have scored 15 goals while conceding just four in the process. The teams they played against include Genoa, Hellas Verona, Sampdoria and Bologna. Against Fiorentina, they are still favored to come out with all the three points but writting off the former could come as a costly price.
