The French midfielder failed to show up to the Blues' latest training session.

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante ditched Wednesday's training session amid fear of contracting the coronavirus. The 29-year-old Frenchman was given the go-ahead to train at home by boss Frank Lampard, reports from England have indicated.

On Tuesday, Kante generated buzz on the internet after he was pictured sporting a rather unusual short hair in the first day of group training at his club's Cobham base. However, the World Cup winner did not turn up for the latest session on Wednesday.

According to multiple reports from the English media, the former Leicester City star was nervous about returning due to the risks associated with playing while new Covid-19 cases are reported daily. Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is believed to be on board with the decision taken by the midfielder who, in the meantime, will continue training at home.

Earlier this week, Watford skipper Troy Deeney also failed to show up at training over concerns for his son's health. As per reports, the English striker's team-mate, Adrian Mariappa, was one of six positive Covid-19 results that came back from 748 tests performed on both Premier League players and non-playing staff.

Two other members of Watford's staff have also contracted the virus whereas the test for Burnley assistant manager Ian Woan also came out positive.
