Premier League giants Manchester United are exploring the possibility of signing Lille and Nigeria forward Victor Oshimen, a report from France has revealed. As part of plans to bolster their ranks, the Red Devils are said to have made the 21-year-old winger a priority on their wish-list and could move for his service this summer.
Oshimen has been touted as one of the emerging stars in France this season and his remarkable spell for Lille has seen him rack up six assists and 18 goals in 38 appearances - 13 of which have come in 27 Ligue 1 appearances. As a result, it was no surprise that the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a move for his service during the winter transfer window. Despite staying put at the club amid the growing interest from the top Premiership side, the former Wolfsburg attacker is expected to trigger a bidding war in the coming months.
According to French publication Le10Sport, Manchester United is targeting Oshimen with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to bolster his flanks going into the 2020/2021 season. As it is widely known, the Old Trafford outfit is expected to go all-out for Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho this summer. However, the possibility of being met with competition also exists with other clubs monitoring the English teenager's development. As a result, the Reds are shortlisting other options should their interest in their No.1 target fall through.
Per the claims, United believe that Oshimen - who was signed to replace Arsenal's Nicolas Pepe this summer - has all the qualities to succeed at the club. A move to Old Trafford could see him become only the second Nigerian in history to play for the Red Devils following Odion Ighalo's switch in the winter transfer window. The latter has proved to be a big hit since arriving, scoring four times in eight appearances.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid is also speculated to be monitoring Victor Oshimen's situation at Lille. Currently, the player has four-and-a-half years left on his current deal.
