The Barcelona striker completed just 37 minutes of football action at San Memes on Friday.

Barcelona has been dealt an injury blow with striker Luis Suarez set for a brief spell on the sidelines. The 32-year-old Uruguayan striker is expected to be out of action for the rest of August but could make his return in September.

Suarez featured in Barca's La Liga curtain-raiser against Athletic Bilbao on Friday but was substituted off inside the 37th minute after picking up a knock. Tests carried out by the Blaugrana on Saturday morning revealed that he has injured right calf.

As a result, the forward is most likely to be unavailable for selection for the next two weeks and will miss his side's first home game of the season with Real Betis. A return to face Osasuna on August 31 also looks highly unlikely and as a result, his earliest return could be against Valencia at Cap Nou on September 14.

At the moment, Barcelona is mildly handicapped in its attack with skipper Lionel Messi yet to fully recover from a muscle injury. Forward Ousmane Dembele could also be a doubt for upcoming games after seemingly picking up a hamstring injury in Friday's trip to San Mames.

With Philippe Coutinho set to join Bayern Munich on loan from Los Blaugrana, summer signing Antoine Griezmann would be required to step up for Ernesto Valverde's side. The French striker made his competitive debut for La Liga champions on Friday alongside former Ajax starlet Frenkie De Jong.
