The Indomitable Lionesses prevented the game from resuming on two occasions in the Round of 16 defeat to England.

Cameroon could be facing serious sanctions after FIFA opened disciplinary proceedings to look into their actions following the Round of 16's 3-0 defeat to England at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. The Indomitable Lionesses threatened to boycott the game twice after a referee decision, validated by the VAR, went against them.

In what was a drama filled encounter on Sunday, the Africans hindered the smooth running of proceedings against the rules of the game on two separate occasions. In the first instance, the protests began after an offside decision was overruled by the VAR when Ellen White doubled England's lead prior to the end of the first half.

In the early minutes of the second half, the Cameroonians argued they were done an injustice after Ajara Nchout's goal was ruled offside by another VAR decision. The forward was seen sobbing on the sideline while her team appeared close to boycotting the match in protest.

On Wednesday, the Association Press revealed that FIFA's disciplinary committee has began probing into the Cameroon team's alleged breaches related to team misconduct, offensive behavior and fair play.

In a relative development, the Indomitable Lioness defender Augustine Ejangue could also be in trouble after she allegedly spat on England's Toni Duggan in the course of the clash.
